Groups

This page describes the additional custom fields and tags for group accounts (aka "ordinary organisations").

Note this documentation only lists the data stored in Nationbuilder. The 123 Membership forms can ask additional questions that are only saved in the form response and not mapped to Nationbuilder.

Inside Nationbuilder, organisations are stored as individual users (the group admin) with the organisation information attached to the account as additional custom fields and tags.

Background note: this site does not use the built in Nationbuilder organisations as we have found that its cause many issues. If an organisation account takes an individual action (for example filling in a RSVP form) data is overwritten. This method allows organisation accounts to still fill out individual forms without any of these sorts of issues

Note, this is a work in progess - some fields have not been finalised yet and are subject to change

#Private Fields and Tags

The following fields are not publicly visible:

Email

This is the main email of the primary group admin (account owner). This is also the sign in email and is is set when the user first creates an account. We do not collect this information in the 123 forms as it is the primary identifier for that account in Nationbuilder.

First Name

This is the first name of the primary group admin (account owner).

Last Name

This is the last name of the primary group admin (account owner).

Phone

This is the primary admins (private) phone number.

Mailing Address

Mailing address - Nationbuilder Address Field

This is the private mailing address of the group. It is specifically stored in the mailing address (Nationbuilder can store multiple address types). Note that primary work address is reserved for the map location (see more below).

Public Fields and Tags (Group Profile Pages)

These fields are public and shown on the Group profile page.

Profile Type

Groups are individual users with extra info. This tag is to easily distinguish group accounts from individual users.

This profile template is activated when viewing a profile for an organization profile with the group profile tag.

Another profile type tag is associate (please see the related Associate page).

Group Name

This is the group name.

Group Type

Tag (single choice):

Group Type - Other

Stores specific other organisation types. (only shows if Other is chosen for Organisation Type)

Landcare interests

An individual can have one or more of the following interest tags:

Landcare interests (other)

Optional text field for other interests. Note this field is used for both groups and individual accounts.

Organisation establishment date?

TODO - not added yet

TODO - not currently collected - This section will always be visible. The organisation logo is stored in the profile_image_url profile custom field. If this custom field is empty, but a native - Nationbuilder profile image has been set this image will be used (fallback for method). If neither the custom field nor the native field have been set - we will display a default logo instead.

Map Address

Work Address - Nationbuilder Field (Primary Address)

The primary work address is used to store the location of the group on the map. It is important that this is the primary address.

Geographical area

Groups might be operating in multiple areas so have made this a multichoice field.

Please describe your group and the Landcare activities you undertake:

The main group information is stored in the Nationbuilder profile content field.

How can people join your group?: Custom Field (Text)

Regular events:

Number of volunteers

Core volunteers

Website

This section will be visible when the organisation profile has a value stored in the website profile field. When a website url is present we have code to try to clean up the visible link - removing parts like "http://", "https://", and "www." - from the displayed link. These links will always open in a new window.

Facebook URL

Instagram

The Instagram link is stored in the twitter_login slot. Nationbuilder has a built in slot to store a Twitter link. As this info is not being collected but Instagram is, to save on additional custom fields, we are repurposing the Twitter field. The Twitter field can be found in the social media tab in the control panal.

Organisation Public Contact

This is the public contact information shown on the org profile. Currently it is a single custom field where the user can enter any contact info (email, phone, etc) - this was done in order to reduce the amount of custom fields used. If needed we can split this into specific custom fields for email, phone, etc"

Declaration

This declaration checkbox is a required field on all membership forms.

Directory Tag

Currently an admin must manually tag the group for them to appear in the directory (assumed this will be done when the group has paid their membership etc).

Profile Additional Content

Note that related blog content is shown on a Group profile if a post exists with a tag linking the post to the group.
