Add a Resource

#Create the resource page

To add a resource to the site - create a new basic subpage underneath the resource_grid page in the control panel:

Customise the resource page

Set the headline as the name of the resource.

If the resource has text to read - add that text to the page content.

Add "Audio" to a resource

If the resource you are adding has an audio file attached to it - create a basic subpage underneath the resource page. To follow conventions - name it RESOURCE_NAME_audio.

Make sure the status is set to "Published" and that the "Include in supporter nav" tickbox is ticked.

Give the new subpage the page_no_robots tag - so Search Engines don't find this individual subpage.

Give the new subpage the resource_type:Audio tag - so the template knows to load it in as an audio file. And to display the Audio icon on the resource card.

Give the new subpage a headline for whatever you want the label to read before the audio embed (example: Listen to Waiata).

Unfortunately, one limitation of NationBuilder is you can't upload audio files as attachments. Because of this - we are storing all of the audio files in the THOWS Dropbox. So - to add the audio file to your resource - paste the Dropbox URL in the "Excerpt for Facebook, search engines" field - found by going to the page "Settings" tab and then the "Social media" tab.

For accessibility it is also a good idea to provide a transcript of your audio for screen readers. You can do this by typing it into the page content (won't be visible to standard users).

Add "PDF" file to a resource

If the resource you are adding has a PDF file attached to it - create a basic subpage underneath the resource page. To follow conventions - name it RESOURCE_NAME_pdf.

Make sure the status is set to "Published" and that the "Include in supporter nav" tick-box is ticked.

Give the new subpage the page_no_robots tag - so Search Engines don't find this individual subpage.

Give the new subpage the resource_type:PDF tag - so the template knows to load it in as an audio file. And to display the PDF icon on the resource card.

Give the new subpage a headline for whatever you want the download button to read (example: Download Waiata PDF).

Upload the PDF file from the "Files" tab.

Add "Word" file to a resource

If the resource you are adding has a Word file attached to it - create a basic subpage underneath the resource page. To follow conventions - name it RESOURCE_NAME_pdf.

Make sure the status is set to "Published" and that the "Include in supporter nav" tick-box is ticked.

Give the new subpage the page_no_robots tag - so Search Engines don't find this individual subpage.

Give the new subpage the resource_type:Word tag - so the template knows to load it in as an audio file. And to display the Word icon on the resource card.

Give the new subpage a headline for whatever you want the download button to read (example: Download Waiata Word doc).

Upload the .docx file from the "Files" tab.

Customise the resource card

You have already given your resource a name by setting the headline field. But you can also add a card description by populating the "Excerpt for Facebook, search engines" text area the top level Resource card page.

NOTE: As of 23 December 2022 - it looks as if none of the site resources have descriptions - so to follow conventions - we probably don't want to add a description, unless we are going to add descriptions for all resource cards.

All resources on the site are displayed in a grid on the resource page:

To add a new resource to the resource grid - create it as a basic subpage underneath the resource_grid in NationBuilder control panel:

Users can click through a resource card to land on the individual resource page - where they can read or download files.
