Māori Roll Booth Finder

Open the Māori Roll Booth Finder.

The Māori Roll Booth Finder helps visitors find election polling locations using their current location, or by choosing their Māori electorate and suburb or town. Results include voting days and hours, accessibility information and links to directions. The tool also displays the relevant Te Pāti Māori candidate.

This page uses a custom page template override. Changes to its visible content, design or interactive functionality should be made by a For Purpose developer.

#Page tag and homepage button

Add the page tag maori-roll-booth-finder to this destination page in NationBuilder and keep it published. The homepage banner uses the tagged page's current URL for its button; it no longer has a hardcoded destination.

Keep this tag on one published destination page only. To change the destination, move the tag to the intended published page and test the button on Home. If no published page has the tag, the banner button is not displayed; multiple tagged pages can cause it to use an unintended match.

The banner's separate Basic subpage uses layout:maori-roll-booth-finder. That layout tag selects the banner; the plain destination tag belongs on this finder page.

Polling location data

Important: The CSV polling location data is hardcoded into maori-roll-booth-finder.html. If an updated CSV or corrections to voting places, addresses or opening hours come through, please let a For Purpose developer know so they can update the template.

The data is embedded in the page, so updates require a code change. Send the developer the latest CSV or details of the corrections, including the source and issue date.

Social sharing and meta information

The page's social share title, description and image can be updated in NationBuilder:

Images

The images used by the finder, including the logo and candidate images, are stored as attachments to the Māori Roll Booth Finder page in NationBuilder (page ID 7868). Their attachment URLs are referenced in the custom template. When replacing images, ask a For Purpose developer to update those references as needed.

Homepage promotion

Use the Māori Roll Booth Finder banner layout to link visitors from the homepage to this tool. Its image is managed on the banner subpage; its destination comes from this page's maori-roll-booth-finder tag.

Developer reference

The page template is in the Māori Party project at:

The CSV records are embedded as a JSON array in the votingPlacesData block. Refresh that block and CONFIG.DATA_LABEL when updating the voting-place list. Candidate details and their image URLs are in CONFIG.ELECTORATES.
