Custom Field or Tag

This is in regards to the recurring question when we build out a NationBuilder site and are trying to decide if we use Custom Fields or User Tags to store data.

#Custom Fields

• Come at a cost (batches of 5?)
• Easier to report on (via People export - can pick as columns)

User Tags

• Come at no cost
• Harder to report on
• Tend to "clutter" the user record
• More easily prone to accidentally changing (via deleting tag)
• More easily prone to mis-configure (if someone tries adding a tag via the NB control panel)
