Add a Resource

#Create the resource page

To add a resource, create a new Basic subpage beneath the resource_grid page in the control panel:

Customise the resource page

Set the headline to the resource's name.

If the resource includes text for users to read, add it to the page content.

Add "Audio" to a resource

If the resource includes an audio file, create a Basic subpage beneath the resource page. To follow the existing naming convention, use RESOURCE_NAME_audio.

Set the subpage's status to Published and select Include in supporter nav.

Apply page_no_robots so search engines do not index this subpage directly.

Apply resource_type:Audio so the template loads the audio file and displays the Audio icon on the resource card.

Set the subpage headline to the label that should appear above the audio player, for example, "Listen to Waiata".

NationBuilder does not support audio-file attachments, so audio files are stored in the THOWS Dropbox. Paste the Dropbox URL into Settings > Social media > Excerpt for Facebook, search engines.

For accessibility, add an audio transcript to the page content. It will be visually hidden but remain available to screen readers.

Add "PDF" file to a resource

If the resource includes a PDF, create a Basic subpage beneath the resource page. To follow the existing naming convention, use RESOURCE_NAME_pdf.

Set the subpage's status to Published and select Include in supporter nav.

Apply page_no_robots so search engines do not index this subpage directly.

Apply resource_type:PDF so the template loads the PDF and displays the PDF icon on the resource card.

Set the subpage headline to the download-button label, for example, "Download Waiata PDF".

Upload the PDF through the Files tab.

Add "Word" file to a resource

If the resource includes a Word document, create a Basic subpage beneath the resource page. To follow the existing naming convention, use RESOURCE_NAME_word.

Set the subpage's status to Published and select Include in supporter nav.

Apply page_no_robots so search engines do not index this subpage directly.

Apply resource_type:Word so the template loads the document and displays the Word icon on the resource card.

Set the subpage headline to the download-button label, for example, "Download Waiata Word document".

Upload the .docx file through the Files tab.

Customise the resource card

The resource headline becomes the card title. To add a card description, populate the Excerpt for Facebook, search engines field on the top-level Resource page.

Note: As of 23 December 2022, the existing resources do not have card descriptions. For a consistent grid, add descriptions to all resource cards or leave them blank on all cards.

Selecting a resource card opens its individual page, where users can read the content or download its files.
