Editing Checklist
Use this checklist when adding or changing site content.
#Before publishing
- Confirm that the page type is correct. Most layout sections are Basic pages; News items are Blog Posts and Events are Event pages.
- Give the page a clear name, headline and unique slug.
- Add an excerpt where the component uses one. Excerpts may become a role, image description, card summary or button label depending on the layout.
- Upload an appropriately cropped image where needed. Add only the image that the component should use as its first image attachment.
- Add only documented page tags and check spelling, punctuation and hyphens carefully.
- For a direct Subpage Layout module, enable Include in supporter nav and confirm its position in the parent page's Subnav pages list. Nested Logo Grid items are an exception: leave them all unchecked for automatic alphabetical order, or check every visible item for manual subnav order.
- Preview the parent landing page on both a wide and narrow screen.
- Check links, headings, image meaning and keyboard usability before publishing.
Safe editing rules
- Reorder modules from the parent page's Subnav pages screen. Their order there is their order on the public page.
- Unpublishing a module or removing it from supporter nav removes it from the assembled landing page.
- Do not delete component pages merely to hide them temporarily; unpublish them so they can be restored.
- Keep destination-only fields clean. Button and logo child-page content should contain the URL and no surrounding prose.
- Avoid changing special integration tags such as
search_tag:LW-employerwithout developer support. - Published supporter-nav component pages below a
subpage_layoutpage are automatically excluded from search engines and internal search. Alphabetically sorted Logo Grid items are not in supporter nav, so addpage_noindexto those nested pages. Do not addpage_allow_indexunless a page is meant to be visited by itself.
After publishing
NationBuilder can serve a cached copy briefly. Refresh the public page after a minute and, if necessary, use a private browser window before assuming a change failed.
